Lower Tundridge Cottage Reviews

Lovely property, great for large groups. We had six small kids with us and plenty of room for them to play.
We had a fantastic weekend a reunion with friends. The Kitchen and outdoor areas were the stand out. The kitchen was really well stocked with enough cooking equipment, glasses, mugs and crockery and the large table was a great social space. The lounge area offered a really comfortable place to relax with everyone. The owners were super helpful and ensured we had everything we needed, they were also really responsive to questions emails we sent them. Would highly recommend Lower Tundridge Cottage the immediate surroundings are beautiful.

This house is in a rural location and has everything needed for a great break. We were a family from 4 yr olds upto late 70's and we all had a great time. Plenty of room for the kids to play and the adults to chill. The little touches of sweets for the kids and wine for us was so welcoming. We did an ocado order and had a Indian takeaway delivered. Spent time exploring the Malvern hills and the priory gardens. If you want a large family getaway this is the perfect place.
We had a fabulous time at the property! There were 12 adults and we all sat comfortably in the lounge and kitchen area. The large dining table was amazing for our games night and meals. We also throughly enjoyed the hot tub. There was plenty of utensils, plates, glasses etc. We would recommend a couple of tweaks to make the stay perfect 1 although the information was sent to the person booking, it would be helpful to have a folder of info like how to work the heating, WiFi, bins, oven etc 2 thicker pillows on the beds 3 a few more cushions for extra comfort on the sofas and chairs round the table. I would definitely recommend this property for get togethers for a relaxed trip away.
Absolutely beautiful home for family time away with everything we needed. Always a challenge to find the right property for a large family group definitely got it right this time! Plenty of space in a gorgeous part of the world. Communication with owner was excellent. Highly recommended!
Angela
Very welcoming with lights music heating and Christmas decorations. Excellent facilities. Good shared space. Plenty plates glasses cutlery etc Some beds would benefit from mattress toppers to improve comfort Hob unfortunately did not work as efficiently as should a couple more saucepans would have been useful!! Hot tub was too chlorinated some people had skin reaction also one costume bleached Overall we had a great visit but would like others to benefit from our feedback.

Overall the property was great in a nice remote location. I feel however the property does need some TLC and after reading reviews online agree with other comments such as Tiles in the kitchen and certain bathrooms needs grout repairs and cracks on many of the times we had a 7 month old which we didn't feel comfortable to leave on the floor and crawl Standard utensils etc we would have expected were not there e.g. spongedishwasher tabletsbroom. We were told we had a broom when it was a mop Cot requested was not put out but was sorted straight away, appreciate human errors occur Cleanliness of towels to be improved, a few had marks on Lot of cob webs around the property and cleanliness overall we felt was poor. Most of the party spent the first couple of hours cleaning We have used Rural Retreats for 18 years and for the first year used Sykes but can say we will not be using Sykes again based on our first experience.
Andrew
We had an issue with two of the beds breaking and some of the party had to sleep on the sette. Overall the property is in need of refreshment broken cracked tiles on the floor upstairs, broken tiles in the round bedroom in the shower, the heated towel rail in the round bedroom all the paint was flaking off. Its a lovely place but now needs refreshment I was quite disappointed for the money we paid.
A super venue for a large group plenty of space and a really lovely communal living area. We were a family of 16 the 8 children, aged from 3 to 18, loved the mezzanine floor! Mo and Edwin were very helpful and responsive.
The house was very nice but in many of the bedrooms and windows sills there were lots corners with cobwebs and spiders. The window also needed cleaning inside and out. This didnt spoil our weekend. One other suggestion 5 bathroom for what could hold 16 people. More toilet roll please. One in each is not enough and we found ourselves running out.

We had an amazing time at Lower Tundridge Cottage! All of the extra flourishes like the hot tub, steam shower and mezzanine made this place an unforgettable stay. The rooms are all very equally sized which meant no quibbling about whod be in each room, and they were all clean and comfortable. We had a slight issue with adjusting the heated towel rail temperatures down on a very hot day, but after emailing Mo, he sorted it out remotely. It was then a perfect temperature and very cool in the rooms at night. The cottage is a 30 min walk to a great brewery which does pizza on Saturdays, and there were plenty of footpaths to explore around the area. We think well be back some day!
Alison
The property was situated in lovely area with many fantastic walks right on the doorstep. The cottage was very comfortable, clean and well maintained. It was very well equipped for a large family of 14 to celebrate a birthday with ages from 8 to 73 and 3 dogs. There was plenty of room for all, we particularly liked the large dining table and huge hot tub which we all made good use of. The kids all loved hanging out in the mezzanine above the kitchen. We walked to the next local pub off road which was very hilly and muddy but very picturesque with beautiful unspoilt views the whole way which certainly gave us a thirst. Take wellies walking boots. The property is quite remote but we liked that and we enjoyed the peace and quiet. The nearest local shop is 10 minutes drive away so we went prepared and it wasnt a problem. We also had a lovely Indian takeaway delivered to the property. Property would maybe benefit from a few games etc. We took our own. The owner Mo came to check the hot tub and was friendly and helpful. Everyone of our party thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we would recommend a stay here.
We really enjoyed our stay and the house was very beautiful, There was no bin bags or surface spray left so we could clean, normally we leave the house sparkling but unfortunately we only could clean things to a certain point. Having no bin bags left the kitchen slightly feeling dirty as we were piling up rubbish before transferring it downstairs. One person bought one bin bag to put their dirty clothes in and we filled that up and re used it a few times We needed more loo roll, especially in the communal bathrooms, as we were left short and couldnt find anywhere open on New Years Day to replenish it. A few people complained that the beds might need new mattresss but all in all, we loved staying there, and would love to come back. The house was very well equipped for cooking and hosting dinner parties. Thank you for the Prosecco and how beautiful and festive the house was decorated
Rebecca
A truly wonderful place to get the whole family together the spaces work really really well well all managed to get round the huge lead topped table and fave prizes to the people arriving if they could guess what the table had been in a previous life. . a little clue 6 of us were born in Sheffield so we had the head start .
Lovely property for a large group. We were a group of nine and had plenty of space for a great weekend stay. We particularly enjoyed the hot tub and the huge dining table which was ideal for large family meals.
Cottage very tired and in need if updating. General cleanliness poor, under bedsfurniture very dusty..months of dust. The showers all had problems with lack of cleanliness.Bed linen and pillows worn. Big yellow stainn on our mattress and lots of human hair. This was only discovered when we stripped the bed on leaving. One sofa in lounge had to be propped up by a piece of wood. Dining chairssome where unsafe and unstable. 2 TV's did not work. Towels were not provided for the jacuzzi and this was not stated in the brochure. We were very disappointed with our half term break and the response from the owner and Sykes Cottages.

We had a fabulous stay here for my 30th birthday weekend. The house was more than big enough for what we needed. We hired a cocktail making master class and the kitchen could not have been a more perfect set up for this activity and the host was very complimentary. The hot tub was a great size for the group and everyone had a brilliant time. Would definitely recommend.
Stephanie
Fantastic property, perfect for our girls get together. Spacious, lovely living space and snug area. Loved the disco shower! Hot tub was particularly great for our group and got lots of use. Would happily stay again with a big group.
We had a fantastic 3 night stay at the barn in early September and couldn't recommend it enough. Its even more beautiful in person, the pictures don't do it justice! The rooms are a great size, beds are comfy and the open plan space upstairs is perfect for cooking up a storm or chilling on the sofas. The garden is enclosed and feels private, not overlooked at all. Also there is an extra fridge downstairs so loads of space if you're bringing a food shop. Thanks so much for having us, we will definitely be back!
Charles
The holiday was nice and quiet. The house was a great size and layout for the 14 of us...plenty of space. Not as clean as expected on arrival, but I did speak with the owner about it. He apologized and said they had just changed cleaning contracts. Everyone enjoyed themselves. The only thing I would do differently is provide a larger fridge. With 8 adults and 6 kids the fridge is a bit small, even using the downstairs fridge for drinks and overflow. Other than that lovely location. The small country lanes take some getting used to at first. Close to Malvern, Worcester and Uptonupon Severn. Lots to do for all ages in the surrounding areas.
Went as a group of friends to celebrate and had the best short break! We loved the kitchen for communal cooking and the mezzanine for playing board games, not to mention the hot tub if you stay in it long enough you may see some visiting dear or runaway sheep We were given fantastic recommendations on places to walk locally really enjoyed the local pub and brewery. Would absolutely recommend and visit again!
We had a great stay here, lovely cottage and great location. The rooms were great and we loved the garden and the hot tub! We also really loved the disco shower in the round room. It was perfect for a Hen. I don't think the advert makes it clear that its not suitable for 16 adults, the small double sofa beds are only really suitable for 2 children or one adult which was only made clear when we spoke to the host. Mo was a fantastic host and it was really handy having him next door for local recommendations and refiling the hot tub. I would agree with other comments that the fridge freezer situation is not enough for a house that size. We really struggled to fit everything in. Overall tho loved the house and would definitely stay again.
We had a lovely stay at the house last weekend, it was a stunning cottage in a beautiful location. The care and detail was a lovely touch, and the guests were all chuffed with their stay. The communication in the run up to the stay was great, and we would love to go back there at some point. Thank you for a great weekend!
Adrienne
I would HIGHLY recommend this beautiful property to anyone wanting a wholesome weekend away in the countryside. Not only did this property exceed expectations, but it's the effort that the host made that made us feel so welcome. Mo left us some prosecco and snacks for our arrival which was incredibly thoughtful. This property has everything you would need and more, and the little details like fairy lights and moving disco lights created a fun atmosphere! Lastly, in terms of the host he is super responsive and accommodating. I had a question relating to one of the rooms and he immediately called me offering his assistance and even offered to come through to assist. SUPER HELPFUL!
Bhaveet
Overall a very good property. The kitchen hub area is a big plus, particularly for a group like us who like to cook it allows for a great social space. Considering the property is in such a beautiful rural area, it could benefit from better views from inside of the property and also a larger garden space with better views of the surrounding landscape. Overall, we would rate the property as very good and wed be happy to stay again.
Brenda
Omg this place is amazing! We went for a girly weekend for my 50th birthday on the 3rd December 2022. We felt like footballers wives as the place is very special set in stunning surroundings. I had the room with the 7ft round bed and fancy shower with disco lighting. It was fantastic. We were so warm in the house too because of the fabulous underfloor heating. Sitting around the huge slate breakfast bar with brilliant eating and drinking together. We used the Alexa to play some music and theres even a disco light in the lounge area so with the beautiful Christmas decorations it felt really festive. We had a brilliant time in the hot tub despite it being 2 outside. Mo the owner was so helpful and accommodating. We had a fabulous meal at the Fox and Hounds pub in Lulsley about 3 miles away The food and service was impeccable so would highly recommend. Overall a fantastic and memorable weekend. We will definitely be returning. Thank you to Mo and your team for making our stay so amazing. Debs
Robert
This was a great holiday for us, lovely house with comfortable rooms and large dining area there were 10 of us and it wasn't cramped in any way. The house is located near to a small village with post office and convenience store, but if larger shops needed these are 1520 mins away in Great Malvern. The nearest pub is the Fox and Hounds around a 10 minute drive away which serves very good food. The house also has a large hot tub which is a great experience with a glass or 2! There is ample parking for 56 cars outside the house. Several cross country walks are available from close to the property, woods, a nature reserve and of course the Malvern Hills close at hand. All in all a place to great stay!

Lower Tundridge cottage is a lovely, very spacious cottage ,with many original features. As we were a large family 10 Adults & 3 Children ages 5, 5, & 6 celebrating Mum's 70th birthday, we felt it suited our needs perfectly. The weather was perfect so enabled us to spend a lot of time in the garden & hot tub which proved to be an added bonus. The kitchen, open plan dining area & longe was brilliant as we could all be together while preparing meals. It was well equiped ,however a bigger fridge would be more appriate for the amount of people to cater for. Also another cafetier & ice trays would also be really helpful. All in all we had a lovely time.
Richard
We were a party of 6 adults and 8 children aged 414. We had a fantastic time. The property is very comfortable with good sized bedrooms, excellent showers and a great livingdining space. Everyone enjoyed the hot tub and the location is ideal for exploring the beautiful Malvern Hills. We will definitely be back as a week wasn't enough.
We loved the location and the property itself the main living area was huge and all 12 of us could easily prepare food etc together with no problems. Really liked the bathrooms with the multijet showers and other nice little touches dotted throughout the house. It was also nice to meet Mo and learn more about the history of the building. Would definitely return!
This is a wonderful property and just what myself and friends needed for celebrating my 40th birthday. It is set in a beautiful part of the countryside, but with all the amenities you need close by. The house is well kept with little quirks that we all enjoyed and a few secret ones too!!! I had a call to confirm the arrival plans a few hours before we got there and when we did it was a nice surprise to find little things like tea, coffee, bathroom amenities there waiting. The garden area with the hot tub is spacious and just what we needed, however it does face the main driveway so isnt completely private, but we didnt mind after a few glasses of fizz!! All in all we had an amazing stay and would come back in the future.
What an amazing place to stay to belatedly celebrate my 50th birthday. Fabulous and huge open plan livingkitchen area, great for everyone to chilleatdrinkdance ! The photos do not do this place justice. Hot tub was lovely and bedrooms comfortable. We had a wonderful time, well worth the wait. Thank you.
We booked this fantastic cottage for my 60th birthday celebration, its in a great location with many nature trails within walking distance and the local post officeshop within a 10 min walk with many locally sourced food and drink. The cottage was great as the 6 bedrooms was just right for the 13 of us mis of adults and grandkids. The modern finishes and fantastic en suite showers we a big hit and the family bathroom with its nice deep bath was great, the upper sittingdining area was fantastic for my birthday dinner as the main dining area seated 15 comfortably, the private chef that the owner recommended canaps by Gill who only lived 500 yds away is a definitely recommended as a treat , look for Gill on Facebook under her company. The weather was truly on our side and the well maintained Hot Tub was used every dayevening and a big hit, the garden was very safe for the kids as its all enclosed, Mo the owner is a true gentleman who left us to have a great holiday but popped by to introduce himself and made a great gesture by giving me a nice bottle of Prosecco. So if your looking for a great place for your next family break please book this fantastic cottage. Once again many thank Mo for the best staycation.

We we're really excited about going away and from all the pictures we saw online this cottage looked fantastic and would seemingly meet all our requirements. The cottage is based in a very quiet and idyllic village of Suckley, surrounded by greenery and tranquility so felt like the perfect place to unwind. We got super lucky with the weather and it was mainly 2224c the whole week we we're there. In terms of the property itself, I would say it's got all the gloss in the pictures but lets itself down pretty quickly. I accept the place is meant to be a fusion of rustic and modern but it felt very rough round the edges in parts, just little bits like finishingdecoration etc. For example there was a massive crack around the induction hob, scuffs and marks in a lot of places etc. Garden furniture, specifically the wooden benchstable looked like it had weathered for the last decade outside. The real problem was the comfort for all the guests, the mattresses we're not good, felt very soft and worn in and the pillows had no firmness to them. This became a chief complaint amongst most of us that stayed, the same can be said about the couchsofa as well as it was really worn in and had no support whatsoever. We also found it really odd that two of the rooms just had open bathroom areas right next to the beds so the ensuite's in these areas were seldom used and the guests all struggled over the shared bathroom, something that wasn't completely obvious at booking. The family rooms are upstairs off the main kitchenliving room area, I'd say the rooms are at an ok distance if you have kids sleeping and people are up and about making noise, but something to be mindful of. We did like the big open kitchentable area where we could all eat and enjoy as a social spot. Overall the property is fine, I had higher expectations for comfort for sure, possibly more suited to adult parties than with younger kids.
