About Cuckoo Cottage

Tucked away in the quintessential town of Pateley Bridge, is the arresting stone dwelling of Cuckoo Cottage. Dating back 200 years, this picturesque property is the perfect base from which a group of six can enjoy the very best that the Yorkshire Dales has to offer. Enter the property via the rear gate, down the steps into the enclosed courtyard, and through the traditional oak back door, to be welcomed into the warm embrace of the restful snug - perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee and a novel from the book exchange that rests on the first-floor landing. Step down to discover the homely sitting room where you can chat with friends as you watch flames flicker within the woodburning stove, providing a wonderful space to entertain loved ones. Share a meal or use the maps and guidebooks to plan your next day's adventure around the dining table in the charming dining room, complete with characterful features such as decorative beams and an exposed stone hearth. Step up into the quaint kitchen and uncover the plethora of appliances and utensils that lie within the beautiful shaker-style cabinets, offering a helping hand whilst you cook up a storm. Completing the ground floor is a handy cloakroom. Head outside to the enclosed courtyard and delight in a refreshing glass of wine as you bask in the sunshine, or head on over to the external games room where you can challenge friends with some healthy competition. As you begin to feel yourself tire, pick yourself up and climb the old staircase to the first-floor landing, then step up again to discover three peaceful double bedrooms - Two with king size beds, and one with a sumptuous double. Each of the bedrooms can be found exuding natural light and appointed with pretty neutral hues, as well as boasting a striking stone fireplace and an abundance of country-style furnishings. Step down, cross the landing and up to the light and spacious bathroom hosting a large tub and separate walk-in shower, allowing you to choose how to best prepare for the day ahead. Make the most of your time in the glorious North Yorkshire countryside with a relaxing stroll across the River Nidd to the heart of Pateley Bridge. Grab a drink and some pub-grub at the local pub or enjoy a mouth-watering meal in one of the many idyllic tea rooms, or pick up some tasty treats from The Oldest Sweet Shop in the World. Perfectly positioned for keen hikers and cyclists, pull on your walking boots as you embark on a thrilling adventure in the rolling green hills of the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and hike Lower Huller Stones, Middle Crags, or to the peak of Great Whernside. Or embark on an adventure on the long-distance footpaths of the Nidderdale Way or the Five-Dales Way. Take a tour of the Nidderdale Museum or experience an animal encounter like never before with Nidderdale Llamas. Explore the 400-acres of moorland that make up the National Trust owned Brimham Rocks, or take a tour of the colourful landscapes of Parcevall Hall Gardens. Head underground at the Stump Cross Caverns, or venture across to Ripon to see the imposing ruins of Fountains Abbey and the Temples of Piety and Fame. If travelling with children, be sure to stop by the Studfold Adventure Trail or spend the day at The Forbidden Corner and Light Water Valley Theme Park, all just a pleasant drive away. With so much excitement right at your fingertips, it's little wonder that Cuckoo Cottage is the perfect choice for your next escape to the Yorkshire Dales.
